Interactive Intelligence on Thursday afternoon said record product orders helped propel profits in the fourth quarter to
$2.5 million, or 14 cents a share, a 74 percent improvement over the same period the previous year.

Fourth-quarter
revenue rose 15 percent, to $35.9 million.

The Indianapolis-based maker of call center software
also reported better results for the full year . Profit rose to $8.6 million on
sales of $131.4 million in 2009, compared with profit of $4.3 million and revenue of $121 million in
2008.

“Despite the challenging economy, we executed well throughout the year,”
founder and CEO Donald E. Brown said in a prepared statement.

And he expects to do even better
this year.

"Looking forward, we see an improved market environment," Brown said.
"We currently expect total revenues for 2010 to increase by about 10 percent and earnings to improve."
