Cher Goodwin says the federal agency approved a 26-mile section running from near U.S. 50 east of the city of Washington to
U.S. 231 near the Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center in Greene County.
Goodwin says bids to build three overpasses
in the new section should be opened next week, with work likely to begin on them within 60 days. She says paving of the new
section should begin this summer.
Goodwin says INDOT expects the Federal Highway Administration to approve the
third of six sections of the project this spring.
