on the east side of Indianapolis, increasing its workforce by 20 percent.
State economic development officials
announced the expansion plans Wednesday morning.
The Indianapolis-based company, which makes DVDs, compact discs
and flash drives, already employs more than 130 at its manufacturing facility on East 30th Street. It plans to add as many
as 28 jobs in the next two years.
Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered the company as much as $100,000
in performance-based tax credits and $5,000 in training grants. The city of Indianapolis will provide hiring assistance.
"Indiana and more specifically, Indianapolis made strategic sense for the expansion of our manufacturing
process because of this centralized location,” World Media executive Josh Mellentine said in a prepared statement. “We
can reach 70 percent of the United States and Canada in one day’s drive.”
Founded in 1988, World Media employs
about 150 at production centers in Columbus, Ohio; Nashville; Dallas; and New York City. Its Creative Card Group produces
and programs the plastic cards used for gift cards, loyalty cards and hotel room keys.
