JMI, a motorsports marketing consultancy, views Asia as a crucial market to its long-term success and an important extension of its global business, founder Zak Brown said.
“It’s probably the fastest-growing market in the world,” he said. “It certainly has embraced motorsports, and specifically Formula 1.”
Nearly a third of the scheduled F1 races will be run this year in Asia.
Brown said Singapore and Hong Kong are the most attractive locations. JMI has retained London-based Sports Recruitment International to lead the search for an executive to establish its Asian presence.
The company also has offices in Charlotte, N.C.; and Short Hills, N.J.; as well as in Cologne, Germany; London; and Montreal. Altogether, JMI has 140 employees and is responsible for $300 million in annual sponsorship deals.
Brown, a former race-car driver, founded JMI in 1995.
