Talks broke down Thursday when Democratic House Speaker Patrick Bauer of South Bend abruptly put the House in recess until
Wednesday. The move drew outrage from Republicans.
But lawmakers plan to hold House-Senate conference committee meetings Monday on at least two of the major issues that remain
unresolved. One is a proposed delay in unemployment insurance tax increases and possibly expanding benefits. The other is
giving schools funding flexibility to help offset at least a portion of $$300 million in budget cuts imposed on them this
year.
Lawmakers must end the session by March 14.
