Carmel-based Engledow Group, one of the Indianapolis area's largest landscape companies, has acquired Litchfield Landscape
Co. to bolster its estates division, the companies announced Monday.
The acquisition of Litchfield brings Engledow an additional 20 employees, including three landscape and hardscape designers,
a press release stated.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Engledow is the fourth-largest landscaper in the Indianapolis area, based on 2008 revenue of $11.6 million. It has 125 full-time
equivalent employees. The company does 90 percent of its business on commercial properties.
“Recent growth in our estates division played a big role in our decision to acquire Litchfield. With demand for
estate services currently at its highest, the combined capabilities will help us to continue to exceed our design-build customers’
expectations,” President Jim Engledow said in a prepared statement.
Litchefield founder Jim Altum will serve as director of the Litchfield operation, which will operate out of its current nursery
at 186th Street and Spring Mill Road. The division will retain the Litchfield name. Altum will spend most of his time on residential
design and installation. Horace Pinon will continue as director of the Engledow Estates division.
Altum started Litchfield Landscape Co. in 1994. Engledow was founded in 1932.
