As a subscriber you can listen to articles at work, in the car, or while you work out. Subscribe NowConseco Inc. cut 20 jobs Tuesday at its Carmel headquarters after moving some of its customer-service work to India.
The life and health insurer made the cuts “to improve our efficiency,” according to a statement from Conseco
spokesman Tony Zehnder.
The employees affected processed customer-service transactions for Conseco’s insurance and financial products policyholders.
Most of the positions were moved to Conseco’s EXL center in India late last year, Zehnder said.
Conseco still employs nearly 1,600 people in Carmel. It also has major offices in Chicago and Philadelphia.
