The Bulldogs were chosen after winning the hearts of Indiana basketball fans with an incredible run to the Final Four, which
ended with a 61-59 loss to Duke in the title game.
Butler won a school-record 33 games, including 25 straight before losing to Duke. It was the only Division I school to complete
a perfect conference season.
Kirk Hendrix, president and CEO of the parade, says the grand marshal honors those with a body of work for a grand celebration.
He says the Bulldogs fit the description.
Parade organizers say more than 300,000 people are expected to line the two-mile parade route May 29.
