A new state law last year gave homeowners facing foreclosures the right to settlement conferences with lenders to discuss
alternatives. After fewer than 2 percent of eligible borrowers exercised that right by late last year, a pilot program in
Allen County involving the courts and attorneys began arranging the conferences. More than 65 have occurred since February.
The program will expand to St. Joseph and Marion counties this month, to Monroe County this summer, and the rest of the state
later.
The Indiana Foreclosure Prevention Network includes more than 40 lenders, banks, community organizations and housing agencies
helping homeowners facing foreclosure.
