San Pathak describes himself as the kind of person who has the ability to figure just about anything out. Since becoming COO of Element Three, the company has achieved record profitability, but he said his proudest achievement is “developing talent on the team and helping them achieve career goals they’re after. The purpose of our company is to foster growth in people and business to change the world.” He is also co-founder and CFO at the for-profit organization AfterSchool HQ, which helps students find their passion through extracurricular programs. AfterSchool boasts a 40%-plus year-over-year growth in participation in IPS athletics across the district.

Getting here: Pathak’s academic adviser at Purdue University suggested he consider a career in electrical and computer engineering technology. He listened and found his calling. He started his career as an engineer and worked in various technology roles before joining Element Three.

First job: grocery cashier

Proud moment: Becoming the first integrator of Element Three. The organization operates under a system that requires a visionary and integrator pair. The visionary is responsible for setting the vision. The integrator is responsible for making the vision come true by leading the executive team and the entire company toward the goal.
