Austin Baker leads three regulatory analysts and manages regulatory filings for the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission. After graduating from Indiana University, Baker worked for an economic consulting firm in College Station, Texas, focusing on expert witness testimony for antitrust litigation. He moved to Indianapolis and used the legal experience he had gained to transition into the utility regulatory role. Starting as an analyst, he developed industry and company knowledge and gained experience in managing regulatory projects. He also gained expertise with utility rate development and its application to AES’ customers. After leading several large regulatory filings and other stakeholder engagements, he earned the role of manager last September. “With my new position, I want to be an advocate for a healthy and balanced work life,” he said. “I have been open with my team about how I see a therapist to maintain my mental health, I talk about my life outside of work to acknowledge that life occurs after 5 p.m. as well, and I take the time to be there for my co-workers as a listening ear or to assist with any work-related barriers they are dealing with.”•
