Mason Gordon helps lead the economic development team at HWC Engineering, working with local and regional governments and other community organizations in a variety of service areas, including economic development planning, strategic investment planning, innovative project delivery methods, municipal management/advisory services and strategic funding pursuits. Among his achievements has been helping secure $50 million of Regional Economic Acceleration and Development Initiative (READI) funding for the Accelerate Rural Indiana region (Decatur, Rush and Shelby counties, plus Batesville). “As a native of one of ARI’s communities (Rushville), it’s been incredibly fun to help secure the largest per capita READI award for one of the state’s most rural regions,” he said. Gordon spent his college years pursuing a variety of internships, including a few summers as the mayor’s intern with the city of Rushville. During his first summer at Rushville City Hall, Rushville was named a 2016 Stellar Community and received a state grant. Every internship from that point forward was about gaining experience in rural development and policy. After graduating from Purdue, Gordon received a George J. Mitchell Scholarship to study rural development
in Ireland.•
