About 75 percent of Indiana students passed this year's statewide English and math exams—a significant improvement
over the 2009 test results.
The state Department of Education released the 2010 results Wednesday. About 74 percent of students in grades 3 through 8
passed the English portion of the ISTEP exam, and 76 percent passed the math section.
In 2009, about 70 percent of students passed English and 71 percent passed math.
More students also passed science and social studies portions of the exam this year.
In 2009, 62 percent of students in grades that took the science test passed, compared to 67 percent this year. Last year,
59 percent of those who took a social studies portion passed—and that was up to 65 percent this year.
