The Indiana Department of Revenue says Indiana retailers selling prepaid mobile phones or prepaid wireless phone cards will
have to charge their customers an extra 25 cents. The Prepaid 911 Enhancement Fee will be added to the base price of each
sale.
Money collected through the fee will be used to maintain 911 call centers and provide them with the latest technology.
The new fee was approved by the General Assembly earlier this year. The 911 fee for normal monthly billed mobile phone service
will remain at 50 cents per month.
