Seeing a lack of timely, accurate information about pay and benefits at local not-for-profits, two consultants have launched
an online survey.
The survey, posted at www.cinss.org until July 8, was designed by Bryan Orander of Fishers-based Charitable Advisors and
Jim Morris of Carmel-based Pendula Consulting in conjunction with the research crew at United Way of Central Indiana.
Orander said UWCI’s survey of 100 agencies, which takes place every other year, and inconsistent, outdated information
available on the Internal Revenue Service form 990 leaves a data gap that makes the task of setting salaries and benefits
difficult for boards of directors.
The consulting firms targeted 600 organizations in Marion and surrounding counties for participation. For simplicity’s
sake, however, the first-round effort excludes hospitals, colleges and schools.
Orander and Morris, a former staff member at Central Indiana Community Foundation, are paying for the survey. There is no
cost to participate. Results are expected in August or September and will be available free of charge.
