Seattle-based Nordstrom Inc. confirmed plans Wednesday to open a Nordstrom Rack store in Indianapolis at the Rivers Edge
shopping center.
IBJ first reported
in May that Kite Realty Group Trust had recruited Nordstrom Rack and The Container Store as likely anchors of a
redevelopment of the Shops at Rivers Edge along 82nd Street at Dean Road.
Nordstrom said Wednesday that the new 35,000-square-foot Rack is expected to open in fall 2011.
Nordstrom Rack is the off-price retail division of Nordstrom, and carries merchandise from Nordstrom stores and Nordstrom.com
at discounted prices.
Norstrom also operates two full-line Nordstrom stores in Indianapolis, at Circle Center and The Fashion Mall at Keystone.
"We are really happy everything came together so that we can move forward with opening our first Indianapolis Rack at
Rivers Edge," said Geevy Thomas, president of Nordstrom Rack. "We wanted to be able to better serve our Indy customers
by giving them another way to shop with us."
