Brightpoint Inc. on Wednesday reported second-quarter revenue of $788.6 million as the Indianapolis company continued to
grow its share of the wireless device distribution business.
It moved 22.3 million wireless units in the quarter, up 18 percent from the same period last year. The company said about
27 percent of the units it handled were smartphones—high-end handsets the industry estimates represent about 19 percent
of all wireless devices distributed during the quarter.
Revenue increased 11 percent year-over-year.
Adjusted income from continuing operations was $12 million, or 16 cents per diluted share, compared with $9.3 million, or
11 cents per share in the second quarter of 2009.
“Our results reflect our continued focus on execution and discipline in managing our business during difficult economic
times,” CEO Robert J. Laikin said in a prepared statement. “I believe Brightpoint remains well positioned to take
advantage of
growing smartphone trends in the global wireless industry.”
