Carmel-based Performance Services Inc. said Tuesday it expected to start construction in the fall of 2011 on the project across about 2,500 acres in northern Tippecanoe County.
Company President Tim Thoman said preliminary testing on the site has been positive, according to The Journal & Courier of Lafayette.
The company is offering school districts and universities the opportunity to invest in the wind turbines and then share in profits from the sales of energy produced.
Performance Services has found a growing niche in energy-efficiency work for schools, health care facilities and municipal projects. Earlier this year, it landed a contract with the city of Indianapolis to make the 28-story City-County Building more energy efficient.
