It includes a credit of up to $40 a year on each air-conditioning unit that a business allows the utility to manage. Turning off the units temporarily during peak demand helps flatten power spikes that occur during hot weather.
A similar air-conditioning management program has been available to residential customers since 1991.
IPL also is offering a number of targeted incentives to businesses to install more efficient lighting, motors and other equipment.
Earlier this year, the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission approved IPL’s plans to introduce a number of energy savings programs for commercial and industrial customers.
