Police say two men armed with handguns entered the residence at 660 Birch Ave. on the near-southwest side and confined about four people during the course of the robbery. The victim, Nicholas Toliver, apparently tried to flee and was shot in the back as he left the house. The suspects, described as black males wearing dark clothing and masks, fled.
