The Pumper & Cleaner Environmental Expo will take place in the city each year in February from 2012 to 2014. It is expected to attract more than 12,000 visitors and generate an estimated $8 million in spending annually.
The event is the 75th-largest trade show in the nation and also is among the 50 fastest-growing conventions, the ICVA said.
“As a direct result of expanding the Indiana Convention Center, additional hotel product coming online, and the continued enhancements of our downtown, we were able to lure this sought-after convention to Indianapolis,” ICVA President and CEO Don Welsh said in a written statement.
The Indiana Convention Center will have an additional 245,000 square feet of meeting space once an expansion of the facility is finished in January. The JW Marriott hotel will add 1,000 rooms to downtown once it opens the same month.
The environmental expo is expected to use the entire, expanded convention center, which is about 566,000 square feet.
The group's 2011 trade show is set to be held in March at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville.
Organizers of the expo are based in Three Lakes, Wis.
