Charlie White says because of his statewide campaign and recent marriage he didn't realize that his new home was outside his council district. White says his resignation is effective immediately.
White is seeking to succeed Republican Secretary of State Todd Rokita, who's prevented by term limits from seeking re-election and is running for Congress.
White faces Democrat Vop Osili in the Nov. 2 election. Osili, co-founder and president of Indianapolis architectural firm A2SO4, left his job in July to concentrate on the campaign.
