The Indianapolis-based law firm of Ice Miller LLP announced Thursday that Phillip L. Bayt has been elected chief managing partner.

Bayt, who will officially assume the title Jan. 1, replaces Byron L. Myers.

Bayt currently chairs Ice Miller’s real estate group, as well as its finance committee. He joined the firm in 1980, the same year he earned his law degree from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law in Bloomington. Bayt also hold an MBA.

With 215 lawyers in Indianapolis, Ice Miller is the city’s third-largest law firm, according to the latest IBJ statistics. The firm also has offices in Chicago, suburban Chicago and Washington, D.C.
