Indiana's December 2010 collections were also $43 million above the most recent forecasted revenue projections. Exceeding predicted revenue is good news for lawmakers who return to the Statehouse on Wednesday to begin the 2011 legislative session, in which they will create a new two-year state budget based on revenue projections.
After lawmakers passed the last two-year budget in 2009, revenues fell far below projections. Gov. Mitch Daniels had to cut millions from state agencies, public schools and universities to make ends meet.
