Leaders say the Indiana House will not try to convene this Thursday and Friday because the Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament starting Thursday in Indianapolis means there's no hotel rooms for out-of-town lawmakers.

House Speaker Brian Bosma says he'll attempt to convene the House Tuesday and Wednesday of this week before adjourning until next week. It's unclear whether the House will be able to get any work done those days, since boycotting Democrats are denying the House the quorum it needs to conduct business.

Democrats are protesting some GOP-backed bills and showed no signs Monday of returning any time soon. Democrats insist on negotiating with Republicans to change the proposals they oppose, but Bosma says he won't hash out a backroom deal with Democrats or drop items from the agenda.
