The suburban Chicago-based company, which manufactures flight-related gears and transmissions, notified the Indiana Department of Workforce Development of the job losses in a letter dated March 2.
IBJ reported the planned closure in May 2010.
The notice, posted Tuesday on the DWD Web site, said employees will be let go in three stages. Nineteen are expected to lose their jobs on May 1, with another 19 to follow on May 27. The remaining 10 will be let go by June 24, when the plant permanently closes.
Northstar Aerospace did not give a reason for the plant’s closing.
Besides Chicago, the company has operations in Phoenix, as well as two locations in Canada.
