The ad shop will support ICVA’s internal marketing efforts, offering its advertising and branding expertise.
The win is good news for Y&L, which made staff cuts in November after long-time client Steak n Shake Co. terminated its contract with the agency. Before the cuts, it employed 66.
Despite the loss, Y&L’s national profile has been growing. Ironically enough, its campaign for Steak n Shake – featuring sharp-tongued servers grilling hamburger patties and serving hand-dipped milkshakes – has been cited as some of the best work in the industry by publications including The New York Times and Nation’s Restaurant News.
ICVA hopes the agency has similar success promoting Indianapolis.
“Y&L’s creativity and strategic thinking will help the ICVA brand and market the greater Indianapolis metro area as a convention and tourist destination,” said Warren R. Wilkinson, the convention association’s senior vice president of marketing and communications.
Terms of the deal were not immediately available.
