Hamilton County tops magazine rankings
Hamilton County residents already know all about their affordable property taxes, low crime and strong schools. But they got outside confirmation from two national magazines during the last month.
In a June 30 story titled, “America’s Best Places to Raise a Family,” Forbes ranked Hamilton County first in the entire United States. The story began with a description of Hamilton County Councilman Steve Schwartz and his Noblesvillebased business Schwartz Bait and Tackle. Schwartz called Hamilton County “the best of the best” because it’s “safe, fun, affordable and growing.”
Every town in Hamilton County is keen to earn individual bragging rights. On July 14, Money Magazine named Fishers 10th in its “Best Places to Live” issue, lauding its strong economy, home prices and schools. Fishers was the only Indiana town to make the magazine’s list.
It was the third time Money Magazine recognized Fishers. The town ranked 24th on its 2005 list and 33rd on its 2006 list. Fishers was excluded from its 2007 list because the magazine focused only on towns with fewer than 40,000 people.
