Officials at the Indiana Department of Local Government Finance and Indiana University's Indiana Business Research Center say they're launching a system to allow local governments to file their 2012 budgets online.
That local budget information can then be cross-referenced against employment numbers, income and population to analyze Hoosier communities.
The effort to increase access to information is part of a statewide effort started by Gov. Mitch Daniels in 2005, which included the launch last year of the Indiana Transparency Portal online.
