Tulsa, Okla.-based Alliance Resource Partners announced Thursday that its new operation will be located south of its current Gibson County Coal mine.
The Evansville Courier & Press reports the new operation should be running in 2014 and will produce up to 3.3 million tons of coal a year. The mine is expected to employ 310 miners when it opens.
The current mine has about 320 workers.
