Michigan-based Ficosa North America Corp. notified the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, in a letter posted Thursday on the agency’s web site, that the layoffs at its Berne plant will begin on Sept. 6 and run through Nov. 7.
Ficosa said the continuing consolidation does not “alter the potential future” of the plant.
The plant south of Fort Wayne manufactures rear-view mirror systems. Ficosa is consolidating that work and expects to produce other products at the Berne plant.
Besides mirrors, Ficosa makes shift systems, fluid systems, parking brake systems, and air intake systems for U.S. car companies.
Founded in 1995, Ficosa North America is a subsidiary of Spain-based Ficosa.
