Marion County saw a 3.6-percent increase in August sales agreements from a year earlier, from 796 to 825. The number of Hamilton County deals rose 3.4 percent, from 351 to 363. Hendricks County saw a 5-percent increase, from 160 to 168.

Available homes for sale in the nine-county region dropped 12 percent in August, with 15,208 homes on the market. Marion County’s inventory dropped 14.2 percent.

Year-to-date sale prices are up 1.6 percent in 2011, from $150,257 to $152,687.
