Kiwanis International has chosen to host its 2015 convention in Indianapolis to mark its 100th anniversary, the locally based organization announced Wednesday morning.

More than 10,000 members are expected to attend the event, which will be held in June. Members from more than 40 countries typically attend the organization’s annual conventions, Stan Soderstrom, executive director of Kiwanis, said in a prepared statement.

“Kiwanis is fortunate to be headquartered in a great convention city, so it made perfect sense for our 100th convention to be in Indianapolis,” he said.

The convention is expected to have an economic impact of $10.2 million, according to the Indianapolis Convention & Visitors Association.

Kiwanis conducted this year's convention in Geneva, Switzerland. Next year's is planned for New Orleans.
