Monday's report by the Institute of International Education ranked Purdue University with the nation's fourth-largest international student population. About 7,500 students from more than 100 countries were enrolled at the West Lafayette campus last school year.
The institute's "Open Doors" report said Indiana University had the nation's 11th-largest international student population, with about 5,400 overseas students enrolled in Bloomington last school year.
The University of Southern California topped the group's ranking of public and private universities with large numbers of overseas students. The Los Angeles campus had 8,600 international students last school year.
Nationwide, 22 percent of international students were from China, 14 percent were from India and 10 percent from South Korea.
