MISSION

Through land protection, stewardship, and education, the Central Indiana Land Trust protects natural areas, improving air and water quality and enhancing life in our communities for present and future generations. The trust works in an 11-county area (Boone, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Johnson, Marion, Morgan, Parke, Putnam, Shelby, and Tipton counties).

PROGRAMS

Land Protection: Protects natural areas and working lands by acquiring land or entering into conservation agreements with landowners. Properties protected by the trust provide habitat for wildlife, help improve air and water quality, and most are available for citizens to visit for leisure, recreation and inspiration.

Stewardship: Engages volunteers and the local community in the care and maintenance of each property to achieve specific conservation objectives such as improved ecosystem function or habitat restoration.

Community Relations: To engage more constituents in land conservation, the trust targets education and outreach efforts to landowners, landowner advisors, and community and business leaders. Highlighting conservation issues to the public is achieved through presentations, exhibits, workshops, publications, media relations and other special programs.
