The Evansville Courier & Press reports the three announced Democratic candidates have agreed to participate in a Dec. 10 caucus at Vincennes University. Thirty-eight county Democratic leaders and other party officials will choose among former state Rep. Dave Crooks of Washington, former congressional aide Patrick Scates and Warrick County Democratic Chairman Terry White.
The three have agreed to endorse the winner to challenge Republican Rep. Larry Bucshon.
District Democratic chairman Anthony Long says choosing the nominee in a caucus will allow the party to enter the general election more united and better funded.
Other candidates could potentially still enter the race ahead of next May's primary.
