The other Indiana centers proposed for closure are in Bloomington, Gary, Kokomo, Lafayette, Muncie, South Bend and Terre Haute. The Postal Service announced in September it was studying the closures of those seven centers and in some cases already has held public hearings on the proposed closures. Their operations would be consolidated into other centers including Indianapolis, Fort Wayne and Evansville.
The Postal Service has proposed consolidating Gary's mail processing operations in Bedford Park, Ill.
The Postal Service said in September it expected to complete the consolidation studies early next year.
