Hoosier Lottery officials have started getting rid of some office and gym equipment that was purchased for the agency's $2 million move to a new downtown Indianapolis headquarters.

Controversy over the move led to the lottery director's resignation in October and the Lottery Commission chairman to say it hadn't complied with state requirements for the move.

Interim lottery director Megan Ornellas told the commission on Thursday that $25,000 in gym equipment has been sent to the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy. The lottery also has canceled orders for $72,000 in electronic equipment that hasn't yet been delivered and sent some custom-ordered furniture to state surplus for auction.

The lottery is also consolidating its offices in order to sublet a portion of the building to the state horse racing commission.

IBJ reported in September 2010 that the lottery was moving from Pan Am Plaza to the new location. The building at 1302 N. Meridian was built in 1923.
