The News-Sentinel reports the Timothy Johnson Academy charter school wanted to acquire the former Pleasant Center Elementary School, but the public school district voted last week to transfer the title to the airport authority.
The Indiana Public Charter Schools Association sued to block the transfer Monday. Association President Russ Simnick says it believes a judge could reverse the transfer under a new state law requiring school districts to report unused buildings and make them available to charters for 48 months.
Fort Wayne Superintendent Wendy Robinson says the district didn't break the law because it already had the deal with the airport authority.
