As a subscriber you can listen to articles at work, in the car, or while you work out. Subscribe NowCincinnati-based Kroger Co will fund a two-year initiative to pump $2.1 million into local K-12 educational programs.
In conjunction with the United Way of Central Indiana, Kroger has pledged to provide more than $820,000 in grants to at least 10 Indianapolis-area educational programs, plus $1.3 million to local schools through the Kroger Cares program.
Local Kroger and United Way executives announced the initiative this morning.
Among those benefiting will be the Daniel Webster Family Academy (IPS School 46), the Scholarships for Children of Kroger Associates program, the United Way’s ReadUp program, Project SEED, Inquisitive Kids, Teacher’s Treasures and the Indianapolis Public Schools Education Foundation.
Educational programs operated by the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, the Indianapolis Symphony and the Indianapolis Opera also will receive funding.
Kroger’s Central Division operates 153 food stores, 129 pharmacies and 52 fuel centers, primarily in Indiana and Illinois.
