It’s the first time all the Indians games will be played on a non-cable station.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“Live Indians baseball coverage in the spring and summer is a perfect complement to the local sports programming of high school football in the fall and high school basketball coverage in the winter,” said WRTV General Manager Larry Blackerby.
Indians General Manager Cal Burleson said he is hopeful the deal will take Indians games into “over a million households in central Indiana.”
The first Indians home game is April 13 against the Toledo Mud Hens at Victory Field. The Indians are the AAA minor-league farm team of Major League Baseball’s Pittsburgh Pirates.
HTSN can be seen over the air on channel 6.2, and is available on several cable systems in central and southern Indiana, including Comcast and Brighthouse Cable.
