WRTV-TV Channel 6 has hired a news anchor and promoted another to complete the station’s evening on-air team.

Jenna Kooi has become an anchor at WRTV after working as a freelance reporter for the station and will co-anchor the 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts with Todd Connor.

Kooi, formerly known as Jenna Maloney, previously worked in Indianapolis as a morning anchor and reporter for WXIN-TV Channel 59. Her career also includes stops in Baltimore, Phoenix and Columbus, Ga.

She and her husband, Jeff Kooi, have two children and live in Hamilton County.

Ericka Flye, who serves as the 5 p.m. co-anchor with Connor, has been promoted to also co-anchor the 6 p.m. newscast.

Flye, an Anderson native, has been with WRTV for 12 years. She previously worked as an anchor and reporter at the Ohio News Network in Columbus.

Trisha Shepherd, who anchored WRTV’s newscasts at 6 p.m., 7 p.m. and 11 p.m., left the station in September to take a position with Riley Children's Foundation.

WRTV is owned by Cincinnati-based E.W. Scripps Co., which operates 13 newspapers and 19 television stations.
