The two-term Democrat left office in January after declining to seek another term. He will use his experience as a member of the law firm’s government practice and will work remotely from Evansville.
Weinzapfel, 46, will assist clients in their relations with federal, state and local government entities, in addition to providing counsel on public-private partnerships, economic development initiatives and neighborhood revitalization programs.
Before becoming mayor of Evansville, Weinzapfel served three terms in the Indiana House of Representatives, where he chaired the Environmental Affairs, and Courts and Criminal Code committees.
He earned a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University in 1988 and a master’s in liberal studies from Georgetown University in 1993. He received his law degree from the Indiana University McKinney School of Law in Indianapolis in 2000.
Faegre Baker Daniels was formed in January from a merger of Baker & Daniels LLP in Indianapolis and Faegre & Benson LLP in Minneapolis.
