Tricoci University of Beauty Culture plans to expand its presence in central Indiana to seven campus locations in three to four years, according to Brian Weed, Tricoci University CEO.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Tricoci University has seven locations in Illinois, including five in the Chicago area, and opened a school in Highland in northwest Indiana last year. The school has nearly 800 students.
Carmel hairstylist John Halal founded Honors Beauty College in 1992. The school has enrollment of 110.
Halal has ventured into the cosmetology publishing industry, authoring textbooks on chemical processing and skin care, but will remain in a consulting role with Tricoci.
“For me, the timing was right to join forces with a larger company, but I really wanted to make sure it was the right one,” Halal said in a prepared statement. “I am very confident that the outstanding school we have built will only be enhanced, and I am excited about helping take TUBC to the next level.”
Mario Tricoci founded Tricoci University in Chicago in 1960.
