As a subscriber you can listen to articles at work, in the car, or while you work out. Subscribe NowNearly 100 employees of Sunrise Greetings in Bloomington will lose their jobs when the card company moves operations by year end to the Kansas City, Mo., headquarters of parent Hallmark Cards Inc.
Sunrise notified the Indiana Department of Workforce Development on Wednesday that the plant closure will result in the termination of 93 jobs, beginning July 20 and ending Dec. 14.
Sunrise was founded in Bloomington in 1974 and was acquired by Hallmark in 1998.
The company stopped manufacturing cards in Bloomington in 2009 and eliminated about 60 jobs at the time. Remaining at the plant are workers in sales, customer service, product development, distribution, information technology, human resources and finance.
