Indiana's Republican Party convention this weekend will mark a broad changing of the guard for the party that holds a firm grip on power at the Statehouse.

This will be the final meeting for Gov. Mitch Daniels and U.S. Sen. Richard Lugar. Daniels has led the party for the last eight years but is term-limited against seeking re-election in November. Lugar has been a state convention fixture for decades but lost a intraparty battle last month to Indiana Treasurer Richard Mourdock.

The party's new standard-bearers include Mourdock and Republican gubernatorial candidate Mike Pence. The party is also scheduled to formally pick 43 delegates to the Republican National Convention. Twenty-seven of those delegates are already committed to former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.

The convention opens Friday evening in Indianapolis.
