Bennett was set to deliver the scores for this year's ISTEP tests at a Tuesday news conference.
The stakes are high for some of the state's lowest performing schools. The statewide aptitude tests are used to determine which schools are taken over by the state.
Five schools were taken over by the state after last year's scores were released. Four Indianapolis schools and a Gary school were handed over to private operators after failing to make adequate improvements over a six-year period.
Bennett tried this year to shorten that six-year period, but lawmakers sent the proposal to a study committee instead.
Bennett is running for re-election this year against Indianapolis teacher Glenda Ritz.
