The plant plans to increase annual production capacity by 50,000, to a total of 250,000 vehicles per year. It produces the Civic sedan and a Civic natural gas model, in addition to the Acura ILX, and now will add a Civic hybrid.
The latest increase in production follows the launch of a second shift last fall that added about 1,000 jobs at the Greensburg facility. The plant has a total of roughly 2,000 employees.
The increase will boost Honda’s North American production to 1.7 million vehicles per year, the company said.
