As partners, Ratio and the institute will market one another’s practices and support each other with staff as needed on a per-project basis.
With the agreement, Ratio aims to pursue civic, higher education and corporate projects throughout China, a statement from the firm said.
The agreement follows an alliance Ratio announced earlier this year with Chicago-based smdp LLC, which has done work in China and Korea, to help it expand internationally. The agreement with Zhejiang University Design Institute furthers Ratio’s plans.
Hangzhou’s designation as an Indianapolis “sister city” helped facilitate the agreement. Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard and members of a delegation on an economic development trade mission in China were present when the document was signed Aug. 16.
