The Upper White River Watershed Alliance is now accepting nominations for its Upper White River Stewardship Awards Program. Winners will be recognized at the Watershed Stewardship Celebration – the culminating event of the 2012 White River Festival – on Sept. 27 at the Indiana Museum of Art. Awards will be given to those demonstrating leadership, creativity, and innovation in the realm of water resource protection within the Upper White River Watershed. Deadline for award nominations is Sept. 5 at 5 p.m. Nominations for the Event/Exhibit Category will be accepted through 5 p.m. on Sept. 15. All nominations must be submitted to coordinator@uwrwa.org. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana will receive $51,000 raised by Mike’s Carwash during the Mike’s Mentors Kids fundraiser.
IPS School 44 students received school uniforms purchased with $19,000 raised by Indiana Members Foundation at its “Vegas Baby, Rat Pack Style” fundraiser.

Damar Services Inc. received a $62,053 grant from the Finish Line Youth Foundation.
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul will use proceeds from a $6,000 challenge grant by Jim Irsay to help recover from a recent theft and vandalism.
Avon High School Athletics received $8,000, a portion of its team sports sales, from LIDS Sports Group.
Servants at Work Inc. was given $10,000 by Northwestern Mutual Foundation for its wheelchair ramp ministry.
